Everyone knows that it’s difficult to attract top talent today, both active and passive candidates are harder to recruit than ever before. Candidates are being extremely careful of career moves and in order to even catch their attention, you have to know how to stand out from your competition. Hiring and recruiting top talent in any industry has become a battlefield, especially for smaller companies that don’t have well-known reputations like Google and Facebook. Here are a few ways you can get your company (not your competition) to attract the top talent you need!
Create a buzz
Whether it be through social media, sponsoring events or advertising, your company has to be seen. Social Media is a great, mostly free, way to be seen and heard and interact with the talent you’re looking for. If a job seeker has never heard of your brand before, they are likely to pass over your open opportunities. Having a brand that is well-known, involved and in front of top talent is what will attract them to your company in the first place, knowing your name and what you do.
Start with your employees
The best advertising you can get is your employees. Your current employees are on your team for a reason. They are the top talent you already have. Your employees know other top talent and you want them to spread the word that your organization is a great place to be. So, making sure that you have an attractive culture by providing things like benefits, perks, vacation days or flex schedules is important.
Be transparent
Job seekers want the truth. If talent can easily find out why your organization is a great place to work, they are more likely to apply or accept communication from hiring managers. Give your prospective employees an inside look at your company and what it’s really like to work there. Even in your job descriptions you should stand out from your competition by including important information about your organization and why this specific opportunity is better than the next.
Think like the talent you want
Where do they look for openings? Where do they go to network? What organizations are they a part of? Think about the top talent that you’re looking to attract to your organization and try to examine all the avenues they would take to find a new job and be there.
