It’s the end of summer and that means it’s the perfect time to give your team morale a boost! There’s an infinite amount of opportunities available to help you get your team pumped up, but let’s take a look at what some Twin Cities organizations have been doing to encourage things like team-building, networking, giving back to the community, and living healthy, balanced lives:
Get Your Team Involved in a Cause
Joining an event for a cause can make employees feel they’re giving back to something larger than themselves and it speaks volumes about the type of company they work for in the community. Even if you’ve got a tight budget, you can still find ways to give back.
For example, we partnered with another local firm to participate in this year’s American Heart Association Heart Walk. Here’s a photo of some of our own team members and their families:

And, check out how this Target team is getting involved in the community:

Encourage Employees to Attend Professional Organization Events
There are lots of local organizations around Minneapolis/St. Paul that are dedicated to providing opportunities for networking and learning in specific industries and professions. Some organizations even have outdoor networking events or more low-key events like trivia. Attending local events can have an impact on employees’ innovative ideas, motivation at the office, and much more.
Have Meetings Outside
Sometimes it seems like such a shame to be stuck indoors during the 3 short months that we have to enjoy our parks, lakes, and Minnesota sunshine. Employees might be feeling less focused at the office so why not bring them a little inspiration and have a meeting or two outside? Find a quiet spot on the grass and have your team bring their notebooks and pens. You can still get just as much done outdoors as you can inside and your team will appreciate soaking up a little vitamin D!
Take a Half-Day and Have Some Fun
What does Celarity do when we hit our quarterly goal? We take a half-day on a Friday and go celebrate! We’ve done everything from outdoor grilling and games, to mini-golf and lawn-bowling, to a Surly Brewery tour. We always have a blast and we love the time it gives us to bond, relax, and get to know each other better. Plus, it motivates us to hit our numbers!

Plan a Company (or Team) Picnic During the Work Day
Planning a company (or team) picnic is another great way to get your team outside. Use this time to play some games, let loose, or even do some structured team-building activities. The picnic will seem like a mini vacation from work and when they head back inside, they’ll be refreshed and ready to be productive.
If You Can’t Get Outside, Have a Spirit Week!
Need a morale booster and the weather isn’t cooperating for an outdoor adventure? Take a play from one of the local agencies and have a Spirit Week. Check out their blog post from their Spirit Week events, pictures, and, of course, for inspiration!
When it comes to motivating your team and enhancing morale, the possibilities really are endless. If you’re looking for more ways to boost team morale, check out our other Celarity blog posts or reach out to us!
